Connecting with the Voters
Are you a candidate that isn't sure what to do or asking where do I need to be? The answer is, wherever your voters are. You need to be visible, you need to have people see you are fit for the role you are running for...are you running for school board? Be at school functions, be at board meetings. City Council? Be at city events, community gatherings, be at the city council meetings. Voters want to know that you are informed and that you are showing up at important events.
Be approachable. Talk to everyone, take time to be in the moment, be in the conversation and smile. I am always surprised to see a candidate that isn't friendly, doesn't smile or is too busy to talk to me. These seem like simple things, and they are--remeber it is the simple things that we sometimes forget. People want to know you, they want to feel comfortable with you and trust you. When you are friendly and show that you care about them you earn their trust. Trust results in votes at the ballot box.
Now if you cannot find any place to go, then go for a walk. Walk a neighborhood, take a business walk, go to Saturday Market. Get out in the community. Make sure you are wearing a nametag, or a t-shirt that identifies you. You want people to know right away who you are and what office you are running for.
Action is important. People want to see you -- be everywhere. It is exhausting I know but people will reward those who work hard for their vote. |

Keep a calendar on your campaign site and then make sure it...” >>
